Cornwall Council

Cornwall Council (Konsel Kernow) is the local authority that governs Kernow. It was first known as Cornwall County Council (Konsel Konteth Kernow), between 1889 and 2009 but formed into a unitary authority from 2009 onwards.

Elected councils were established in 1889 under the Local Government Act 1888, the first elections were held in January 1889.

On 1 April 2009, the six districts were abolished and replaced with the Cornwall Council.

Governance[edit | edit source]

Since 2009, Cornwall Council has provided Kernow with nation-wide services.
